Risk Management Communication

Project Objectives

  • Increase NY small farm operators' awareness and understanding of risk management strategies including crop insurance
  • Provide accurate, timely, and easily readable information about changes in the AGR-Lite program to enable small farm operators to make informed decisions in time for spring 2006 enrollment deadlines
  • Develop and test NY Beginning Farmer Training Program focused on risk management strategies

This project is one part of a larger grant--involving Cornell FarmNet, FarmLink, and Cooperative Extension--that aims to increase outreach and education about risk management strategies, including crop/revenue insurance. The Small Farms Program is responsible for publishing 12-16 high quality articles on risk management in the Small Farm Quarterly.
