Title Bar: Small Farms Program
Resources > Beginning Farmers > Organizational Links

Below is a list of organizations or businesses that serve farmers. Many of them have programs that specifically aim to help new farmers get started. This is not by any means an exhaustive list, but it's a good place to look for organizations and people who may be able to answer your questions, help you focus, and ultimately, help you successfully realize your farming dreams.

Cornell Cooperative Extension

http://www.cce.cornell.edu/in_your_community.php

The best place to begin your quest for information on starting a farm is at your county's Cooperative Extension (CCE) office. CCE Educators offer programs in the areas of agriculture, home horticulture, community and business development, nutrition, etc. Your local educator can answer your questions about starting a farm, or point you toward resources that can. Before you call, it's a good idea to formulate your questions and have an understanding of specifically what kind of help you need. This will enable the CCE Educator to better serve you.
